New Delhi: Describing the killing of 24 Pundits in Jammu and Kashmir on March 25 as
a "cowardly act", Army Chief Gen N C Vij on March 25 said the anti-terrorist
operations would be carried out in full swing.
Replying to questions on cross-border infiltration in view of the ensuing summer
months, he said, "Our endeavour will be to reduce infiltration to a minimum possible
level .Our anti-terrorist operations will be carried out in full swing in the best
possible manner."
He was talking to reporters at a reception hosted in the honour of armed forces
personnel to be honoured with gallantry awards at an investiture ceremony on March
26.
Asked to comment on the Jammu and Kashmir government's "healing touch" policy, he
said, "It is an experiment. If found counter-productive, it can always be
reviewed."
To a question on whether there was lack of security at the spot, the Army Chief said
police was present there.
He said the state government was enquiring into how timely action could not be taken
by the police and added that all precautions were now being taken.
