Ayodhya: Seven small articles were found during the excavation work that resumed at
the acquired land on March 25 after a break on weekly-off day on March 24.
Digging work was carried out in three trenches – K-3, K-7 and seven small articles
were found during the day, sources said.
The articles recovered included a bead in K-3, one small piece of figurine in trench
number K-7, a small stone disc and two pieces of earthen toys in K-8.
Sources said about seven feet deep digging was done in K-8, in which second floor
surface was found in the third layer.
On the other hand, one to two feet digging work was reportedly done in K-3 and K-7,
while cleaning in the other trenches continued.
About 45 labourers, including seven Muslims were engaged in the digging. Some
contesting parties and their representative were present at the excavation work.
On the other hand, commissioner, Faizabad division, R M Srivastava, who is also
authorised person on behalf of Central government, held a meeting with officials at
Manas Bhawan control room in the acquired land and is understood to have discussed
the security perceptions and progress of the excavation work, sources said.
The officials present in the meeting included deputy inspector general (DIG)
Faizabad range K N D Dwivedi, district magistrate Alok Kumar, senior superintendent
of police (SSP) Prashant kumar and other officials.
Later, Srivastava left for Lucknow, en route to New Delhi to attend a high level
meeting on security arrangements and other related issues with the Union Home
Ministry scheduled for March 26, sources said.
The meeting on March 26 is likely to discuss the administrative arrangements at the
excavation site in the light of demands moved by some contesting parties.
The situation is Ayodhya and Faizabad remained normal on March 25, official sources
said.
