Wednesday, March 26 2003 12:44 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president M Venkaiah Naidu said he has received information that former Gujarat Home Minister Haren Pandya was dead after being shot at by an unidentified gunman in Ahmedabad on March 26 morning.

Naidu said he was informed by his partymen in Ahmedabad that Pandya had gone for a morning walk in his former Assembly constituency of Ellis Bridge and was apparently completing the exercise when somebody came in a vehicle and lowered the windowpane of the former minister's vehicle and shot at him.

"Pandya collapsed. Nobody noticed immediately and it was after sometime that he was rushed to the hospital and the information I received is that he is no more," Naidu said.
