Shillong: An earthquake of moderate intensity rocked the Meghalaya capital and its
surrounding areas at 12.20 am on March 26, according to seismological observatory
centre in Shillong.
The tremor lasted a few seconds and there was no report of loss of life or damage to
property, official sources said.
The epicentre of the earthquake was located at 27.5 degree North and longitude 89.2
degree East on Bhutan region, the centre said.
A report from Siliguri said the tremor was felt across North Bengal and lasted for
several seconds.
Its intensity surpassed the other quakes in recent times, but there was no report of
any loss from any part of the region.
