Delhi pugilist demoralises opponent in pre-quarters
Thursday, March 27 2003 11:36 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Delhi boxer H K Belwal packed powerful punches in an impressive performance to outsmart Khimanand of CISF on the second day of the 49th Senior National Boxing Championship on Wednesday.

Right from the start of the pre-quarterfinal bout, Belwal demoralised Khimanand, who tried to counter his rival but the co-ordination between his body and arms was just not there.

Khimanand tried to put up a fight but finally lost the bout when the Referee Stopped Contest (RSC) in the third round of the Lt Flyweight category.

In another bout in feather weight class, Commonwealth medallist Som Bahadur Pun (Services Sports Control Board) proved himself superior to his opponent P Rajesh of Tamil Nadu.

Rajesh proved to be no match for the technically-superior Pun and lost on 4points.
