New Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi on March 28 cautioned that other parts of
the world could also be threatened if no solution was found to the situation arising
out of the US-led military action against Iraq.
"If no solution is found to the situation in Iraq, it will be a defeat for humanity
and threat will increase in other parts of the world," Gandhi said while
inaugurating a convention of block presidents of the party in New Delhi.

The action against Iraq needed to be condemned as it was against all canons of
international law and without authorisation of the UN, she said calling for an
immediate halt to the war and referring back the matter to the UN for a peaceful
solution acceptable to all concerned.
Expressing solidarity with the innocent people of Iraq, Gandhi said they would be
the "worst sufferers of this catastrophe".
Senior party leader K Natwar Singh assailed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led
coalition for its failure to "condemn" the US action despite demands from the
Opposition parties.
