New Delhi: Talking tough, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on March 28 said it would
support only that party in the next general elections which promises to carry out
construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya as it did not expect the present government at
the Centre to enact a Law allowing such a construction.
"We want a Legislation to be passed by Parliament allowing construction of Ram
temple at Ayodhya. But this government (National Democratic Alliance government at
the Centre) will not do it so we will support that party in the next Lok Sabha
elections which promises to carry out the task," senior VHP leader Acharya Giriraj
Kishore told reporters.
He said on the second day of VHP's campaign for handing over of the undisputed site
at Ayodhya, over 30,000 activists offered "satyagraha". Most of them belonged to
Bajrang Dal and came from rural areas, he said.
Kishore said while "so-called" Left and secular parties accused Bajrang Dal of
creating unrest, police admitted that the agitation was very peaceful.
He said in the second phase of the agitation, to be launched after two months, VHP
activists would approach MPs cutting across party lines to elicit their support for
construction of Ram temple. "If any MP opposes, he or she will be exposed before the
electorate," he added.
