Islamabad: Pakistan on March 28 accused India of hypocrisy claiming Islamabad was
not informed about the 'Prithvi' missile test and said New Delhi's move eroded the
value of confidence building measures between the two counties.
"The failure of India to give prior notice about the test fire of 'Prithvi' missile
is reflective of its hypocrisy on arms control issue," a statement issued by
Pakistan Foreign office said.
"India has chosen to erode the value of confidence building measures," it said in
reaction to statement by a spokesman of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs that
prior notification of missile tests was "meaningless".
"It was simply a confirmation of the contrasting attitudes and sense of
responsibility of the two countries with regard to matters that have a bearing on
peace and security in the region," the Pakistan spokesman's statement said.
Pakistan notified its neighbours about its missile tests, because "we believe that
prior notice services to eradicate any cause for a misunderstanding as to the
intention of a missile launch", he said.
