New Delhi: India has held that "reliable" and "widespread" reports of Chinese
nuclear and missile proliferation to Pakistan was a cause of continued concern as it
hit out at Islamabad for pursuing a policy of "compulsive hostility" against this
country.
"Reliable and widespread reports of Chinese nuclear and missile proliferation to
Pakistan continues to cause concern," the External Affairs Ministry said in its
annual report for 2002-03.
It said India's endeavours to seek a long-term and stable relationship with China
continued to be guided by the principles of Panchsheel, mutual sensitivity to each
others' concerns and equality.
"We remain committed to the development of friendly, co-operative, good neighbourly
and mutually beneficial relations with China," it said.
The report said that efforts continued to build on the growing convergence of
interests and to sustain the steady expansion and strengthening of relationship in
diverse fields and resolve outstanding issues through the process of
dialogue.
It said that while India remained committed to establishing a relationship of peace,
friendship and co-operation with Pakistan, Islamabad was pursuing its policy
of "compulsive hostility to India, besides continuing to provide sponsorship,
support and a safe haven to cross-border infiltration and terrorism directed against
India".
