New Delhi: More than a year after closing its airspace to Pakistan, India has
decided to shut down the Indian Airlines (IA) office in Lahore.
Civil Aviation Minister Shahnawaz Hussain said on March 31 that he has signed orders
for closure of the domestic carrier's Lahore office following consultations with the
Ministry of External Affairs.
This is another move to reiterate India's stand that Pakistan should stop sponsoring
cross-border terrorism.
The Lahore office, with six employees including an Indian and five locals, cost Rs
72 lakh per year.
India and Pakistan have not been overflying each other's territory for more than a
year after the December 13 terrorist attack on Parliament.
Indian Airlines also has an office in Karachi.
