Srinagar: Six Border Security Force (BSF) jawans were killed when their post in Nowgam sector of Kupwara in North Kashmir was hit by an avalanche last week, an official spokesman said on April 1.

According to delayed information from the frontier district, the jawans were buried under the avalanche on March 29 night, he said.

Five of the deceased have been identified as head constable Palangappa, constables B J Pal, Norgill Sherpa, J Nego Sherpa and Vinod Kumar.
