New Delhi: Describing the Supreme Court verdict on Ayodhya as "surprising", Vishwa
Hindu Parishad (VHP) on April 1 said it might anger the Hindus and declared that it
would work for getting a Parliament enactment to resolve the vexed issue.
"It (judgement) is surprising. Should the Hindus be always forced to suffer for the
sake of harmony? This decision might arouse anger among the Hindus and widen the
chasm between the two communities," senior VHP leader Acharya Giriraj Kishore told
reporters.
He said while rejecting the Centre's plea to vacate the stay on religious activity
on the undisputed land, the apex court had not explained the point of law anywhere.
Asserting that the VHP could not wait endlessly for a judicial resolution of the
Ayodhya tangle, Kishore said in the next phase of their agitation for construction
of Ram temple at Ayodhya, signatures would be collected from Members of Parliament
(MPs).
"The date for launching the second phase has not been decided so far," he said
adding that the ongoing week long 'satyagraha' in support of a Parliament
legislation would end on April 2.
He said over 22,300 VHP activists offered 'satyagraha' on April 1 and for the first
time some Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leaders including Madandas Devi,
firebrand VHP leader Sadhvi Rithambara and some MPs including Adityanath
participated in the programme.
Kishore said VHP would force the government to enact a legislation for handing over
of both the disputed and undisputed sites at Ayodhya to the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust
for construction of Ram temple.
"If the present government cannot introduce the Bill, we will ensure that the next
government does it," he added.
