Ayodhya: In a significant discovery, the Archaeological Survey of India team undertaking excavation at the acquired land recovered a small piece of green tile with the inscription "Allah" in trench number J-6 in which about two-feet digging had been done, sources said on April 1.

The excavation work was resumed after weekly recess on March 31 and digging was undertaken in J-4, J-5, J-6, K-5, K-6 and K-7 trenches.

The word "Allah" was inscribed on the tile in Urdu language, the sources said.

23 other articles, including figurine stone pieces with human face carving, were also found during digging, they said.

Sources said 79 labourers, including five Muslims, were engaged in the April 1 digging.

All the articles found during the digging had been kept under sealed covers in the custody of the ASI team.
