Srinagar: At least sixteen people, including two policemen, were injured in a
grenade explosion triggered by militants at a crowded market in Pulwama district of
South Kashmir on April 2 afternoon, official sources said.
Militants hurled the grenades towards a police party at Shopian township, 52 km from
Srinagar, around 13:40 hours (IST) causing splinter injuries to two policemen and 14
pedestrians, they said.
The sources said the injured have been shifted to hospital where condition of six of
them was stated to be serious.
This was the second grenade attack by militants at crowded places in South Kashmir
within 24 hours. A civilian died and 15 others were injured in a grenade explosion
at Mattan chowk in Anantnag district on April 1 evening.
