Srinagar: Three members of a family and an Army jawan were among five persons killed
in overnight violence in Kashmir valley, where security forces recovered 50 kgs of
explosives from a hideout, a police spokesman said.
Unidentified militants shot dead a former ultra Mohammad Yousuf Sheikh, his wife
Rafiqa and three-year-old daughter in their house at Dollipora village in Vilgam
area of Kupwara district in North Kashmir on April 2 night, the spokesman said.
He said body of one Gul Mohammad Najar was recovered by police from Larnu area of
Tral in Pulwama district of South Kashmir on April 4.
An Army jawan was killed when his gun went off accidentally during search operations
at Panarn forest in Bandipora area of Baramulla district on April 3, he said.
Militants set off an improvised explosive device (IED) at notified area committee
building at Pampore in Pulwama district on April 3, causing damage to it. However,
none was hurt in the explosion.
Security forces recovered 50 kgs of explosives, three under-barrel grenade
launchers, 18 grenades, eight detonators, a pistol with two magazines and seven
rounds from a hideout at Rangwali jungle in Baramulla district on April 3, he said.
