Indore: Virtually launching the election campaign for BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party)
in Madhya Pradesh, Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee on April 4 made a scathing
attack on the Digvijay Singh government on the irregularities in the preparation of
voters list and said people will give the appropriate reply.
"If electoral rolls are not proper, how can elections be conducted in a free and
fair manner, he said referring to the ongoing controversy over irregularities in the
electoral list in the state.
Addressing a rally in Indore on the opening day of the two-day BJP National
Executive, he asked, "where did the false names come from and how did they find a
place in the rolls. There should not be any mischief."
Stating that there was no such complaint in terrorist-ravaged Jammu and Kashmir
where Assembly polls were held, Vajpayee said the people will give a fitting reply
as there is
an awareness among the electorate.
