Saturday, April 5 2003 11:59 Hrs (IST)

Nasik: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar, who was admitted to a local hospital on April 4 evening after he complained of giddiness and uneasiness during a function, has been shifted to Mumbai by air on April 5 morning for further treatment at Breach Candy Hospital in the state capital.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal and a few state ministers, who had air-dashed to the city on April 4 night to enquire about the health of their leader, accompanied Pawar on his flight from Ojhar airstrip, about 21 km from Nasik, police said.

Pawar, who was in the city to attend the birthday function of Dr Vasant Pawar, was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Cushrut Hospital following uneasiness and giddiness.

Meanwhile, according to Dr Vasant Pawar, who is also NCP city president, and Dr Makrand Patel, a cardiologist who attended Pawar, "the condition of the NCP leader is stable. His pulse rate and blood pressure is normal".
