Colombo: Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga begins a four-day visit to India
on April 7, with peace talks, the Iraq situation and a host of other issues expected
to figure in talks with the Indian leaders.
Kumaratunga is to be accompanied by former Foreign Minister and her foreign affairs
advisor Lakshman Kadirgamar, officials said, adding she was due to arrive in New
Delhi on April 7 night.
Developments in the peace talks with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE),
the Iraq situation and a host of other issues are expected to figure during talks
with Indian leadership, they said.
Kumartunga has a meeting each scheduled on April 8 and 9 with External Affairs
Minister Yashwant Sinha and Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani
respectively.
On April 10, she will call on President A P J Abdul Kalam and also have a round of
talks with Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, the officials said.
Kumaratunga would have wide-ranging discussions with Vajpayee on the entire gamut of
bilateral issues as also review international and regional developments.
