Ahmedabad: Father of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Haren Pandya, who was killed by unidentified gunmen last month, on April 6 said his son was a victim of "political murder".

In an emotion-choked voice, Vithalbhai Pandya told Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, "My son was a victim of political murder.

"If you had information regarding threats to my son why did not you protect him," he asked Advani who was in Ahmedabad to participate in the "shradhanjali diwas" of Haren Pandya.

Vithalbhai Pandya also asked Advani, "If his (Haren's) appointment to the BJP national executive was decided earlier, why did we receive a fax in this regard just one day before he was killed?"
