Moscow: Russian Ambassador Vladimir Titorenko has on April 6 left embattled Iraqi
capital Baghdad.
According to TVS network, Ambassador Titorenko left for Damascus by road at 12:00
hours (IST) on April 6 and is expected back in Moscow later on April 6 night.
The Russian Embassy still has 12 staffers and guards in the Iraqi capital and would
be withdrawn in case of storming of Baghdad by US-led invading forces.
Russia withdrew non-essential personnel from Iraq in the days leading up to the
start of the US-led offensive last month, but kept its Baghdad Embassy operational
with a skeleton staff.
