Coimbatore: Air Chief Marshal S Krishnaswamy on April 8 said being a "highly
responsible Democratic country", India cannot take any decision on emotional basis.
"Being a highly responsible and Democratic country, India cannot take any emotional
decision," he told reporters at the airport.
On the recent remarks made by External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha on Pakistan,
the Air Chief said, "We are not in anxiety and we are patient."
Sinha had recently said Pakistan was the fittest case for pre-emptive strike in the
wake of US attack on Iraq.
"Any war is a responsible decision-making process. As a matured Democratic country,
India cannot act emotionally. We can't take any decision as an emotive issue," he
said.
Responding to a question, the Air Chief denied that war clouds were hovering over
Indo-Pak border as mentioned in some reports.
"We are not war-mongering and want to live in peace and are not against the people
of Pakistan," he said.
To another question on the ongoing war in Iraq, he said though the country's force
was not required to go anywhere now, Indian Air Force was analysing the
situation.
"We are well-equipped and technologically strong" was his reply when asked about the
striking capability and technology as compared to that used by the US-led forces in
Iraq.
