China urges India, Pakistan to resume dialogue
Tuesday, April 8 2003 17:20 Hrs (IST)

Beijing: Expressing its concern over the talk of pre-emptive strikes, China on April 8 urged India and Pakistan to resume bilateral talks to end their disputes and help maintain peace in South Asia.

"China has always held that conflicts or disputes between states should be solved peacefully through dialogue instead of resorting to force or the threat of use of force," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said in response to a question on the recent statements and counter-statements by Indian and Pakistani leaders on pre-emptive strikes on each other.
