New Delhi: Government on April 8 informed the Rajya Sabha that no Indian has been evacuated from Iraq and adjoining Gulf countries due to war.

Civil Aviation Minister Shahnawaz Hussain said during Question Hour that most Indians in Iraq voluntarily left before the outbreak of war.

As far as neighbouring countries are concerned, normal commercial flights have been operating and so far there has been no necessity of evacuation of Indian nationals, he said.

Replying to supplementaries, he said the need for implementing the contingency plan for airlifting of Indians did not arise.
