Ahmedabad: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials intend to stick on with
investigation into Haren Pandya's assassination "till the court gives a verdict", a
senior officer said on April 8.
"Investigating teams are getting stronger evidences every day in the assassination
of the former Gujarat Home and Revenue Minister," the official said on condition of
anonymity, but declined to comment on the exact nature of evidence.
"There is progress in the case as officials are gathering evidence each day and we
intend to stay put till court gives a verdict in the case," the CBI official said.
The official also denied knowledge of a nationwide 'alert' being sounded for one 45-
year-old Ahmedmiyan Sukhiyaan Patangiya in connection with Pandya's murder.
Reports coming in late on April 7 night claimed that city crime branch that is
assisting the CBI in probe, sounded an alert for the said person.
However, deputy commissioner of police (crime branch) D G Vanjhara denied any such
move by his department or knowledge of such a person at large.
Haren Pandya was brutally shot dead by gunmen in his own car when he was about to go
for his customary morning walk at law Garden a fortnight ago.
