'Leaders making communal speeches won't be spared'
Wednesday, April 9 2003 13:00 Hrs (IST)

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh on April 9 said his government would not spare "any leader who made some utterances against people of another community".

Asserting that he had not committed any mistake by ordering the arrest of Acharya Dharmendra last month and that of Sadhvi Rithambhara quite some time back, Singh said, "I am convinced that the arrest of these two people sent a strong message that any leader who makes some utterances against people of another community would not be spared."

Following the arrests of these two people, there was no problem anywhere in the state and this alone proved that the decision to arrest them was right and had gone down well with the people, Singh said in an interview.

He pointed out that as far as he was concerned, he would never discriminate between leaders of various communities who make inflammatory speeches.

In this connection, the Chief Minister pointed out that action had been taken against a Muslim leader of Dhar for having written a book derogatory to the majority community some time ago.
