Mumbai: The SENSEX opened weak and continued its downward march during the initial
period of the session on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on April 9 as operators and
retailers pressed fresh sales a day ahead of announcement of fourth quarter results
by IT major Infosys Technologies.
Brokers said investors continued to reduce their positions in technology stocks on
fears that the Q4 results might not reach the market expectations.
The BSE sensitive index opened moderately lower at 3,160.74 as against April 8 close
of 3,174.86 and dipped further to a low of 3,146.32 before being quoted at 3,156.63
at 10.30 am (IST).
Heavyweighted shares like Infosys Tech, Satyam Computers, RIL, HLL, ITC and Bajaj
Auto were quoted substantially down due to profit booking by operators.
