Ayodhya: Five more weeks for ASI for digging

Lucknow: The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court on April 10 granted five more weeks to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to complete excavation at the acquired land in Ayodhya.


A division Bench comprising Justice Sudhir Narain, Justice S R Alam and Justice Bhanwar Singh passed the order on a ASI petition seeking further time of two and a half months to complete the excavation being carried out to ascertain if the Babri masjid was built on a temple.

It directed the ASI to apprise the court with the progress made in the excavation on April 28.
