India submits fresh list of fugitives to UAE
Thursday, April 10 2003 17:41 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: India has submitted a fresh list of wanted criminals and fugitives to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for their extradition, Minister of State for External Affairs Vinod Khanna told Rajya Sabha on April 10.

Without disclosing the names of fugitives, Khanna said in a written reply that these alleged criminals were wanted in connection with terrorist offences, economic offences and organised crime.

In reply to another question, his ministerial colleague Digvijay Singh said New Delhi had expressed its strong concern to Washington on the relocation of al-Qaida terrorists, Taleban functionaries and their Pakistani supporters from Afghanistan to Pakistan.

Singh said such relocation would undermine the war against terrorism, including cross-border terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

The minister said a jatha of 100 Sikh pilgrims would visit holy Sikh shrines in Pakistan on the occasion of Baisakhi.
