New Delhi: Parliament on April 10 congratulated Indian Space Research Organisation
(ISRO) scientists on the successful launch of the state-of-the-art INSAT-3A
satellite from Kourou in French Guyana.
The launch of the multi-mission multi-purpose satellite was announced in Lok Sabha
and Rajya Sabha by Minister of State for Space Satyabrata Mukherjee, amidst thumping
of desk by members.
The satellite meant to provide telecommunications, television, meteorological and
search and rescue services was now under the control of INSAT master control
facility at Hassan in Karnataka and initial health checks of the satellite indicated
all the subsystems were "performing nominally", the Minister said.
