Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government on April 10 ordered a magisterial inquiry into
the violence, which broke out in Ayodhya on April 9 following death of a Provincial
Armed Constabulary (PAC) jawan in the Ram Janmabhoomi Babri Masjid complex.
The government has also asked the Assistant Director General (ADG) of Police PAC
Harmol Singh, to probe the circumstances leading to the PAC jawans going berserk
following the death of their colleague R K Tewari after a fall from a watch tower.
The 35th battalion of the PAC, whose jawans went on rampage damaging vehicles of
police officials and burning shops in the main market, have been shifted out of the
temple town.
