Vajpayee seeks Jaya's views on Sri Lankan issues
Thursday, April 10 2003 15:51 Hrs (IST)

Chennai: Early repatriation of Sri Lankan Tamil refugees in Tamil Nadu and their proper resettlement in Sri Lanka, among other things, were taken up by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, when Prime Minister A B Vajpayee telephoned her before meeting Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga in New Delhi on April 10.

The need to resolve the problems caused by Sri Lankan fishermen attacking their counterparts in Tamil Nadu near the international boundary line, was also emphasised by the Chief Minister during the telephonic discussions, an official press release said.

The Prime Minister telephoned Jayalalithaa to seek her views on issues of mutual concern between Sri Lanka and India with particular reference to Tamil Nadu.

Jayalalithaa met Chandrika Kumaratunga at the Raj Bhavan on April 7, when the latter began her official tour of India, and both of them exchanged views on matters of mutual concern.
