Srinagar: A day after police claimed the arrest of a top Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant involved in the recent massacre of 24 Kashmiri Pandits, the Pakistan-based outfit on April 11 denied the charge and threatened to kill Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir A K Suri for making "false claims".

LeT divisional commander Abu Usama said in a statement to a local news agency that the outfit's member Zia Mustafa alias Abdullah Umer, who was presented before the media by the police on April 10, had been arrested on March 16 at 2 pm from his hideout, whereas the Nadimarg massacre took place during the intervening night of March 23/24.

The police claim about the involvement of Lashkar in the massacre is bundle of lies, he said.

"Lashkar Mujahideen have been directed to kill the DGP who has become father of falsehood and involved in the killing of innocent persons," he added.

Usama claimed that no weapon or documents were recovered from Mustafa at the time of his arrest.

He said the situation could have become clear if the media persons had been allowed by the police to talk to the arrested commander.
