Washington: The White House said on April 11 that Saddam Hussein's regime is "gone"
in that it has lost centralised control of Iraq, but warned that US-led forces still
face stubborn pockets of armed resistance.
"The regime is gone," said spokesman Ari Fleischer. "They have lost control, in an
organised, centralised way."
But, "the military mission remains underway", because US-led troops are still
fighting Saddam loyalists, he added.
