Kozhikode: Tribal leader C K Janu, who spearheaded the recent violent agitation at
Muthanga in Wayanad district, was released on bail from the sub-jail on April 12
along with 12 others including four women.
The release of Janu, the Adivasi Gothra Maha Sabha president, follows the Kerala
High Court's order on April 10, which granted bail to her in two cases. However,
five more cases are pending against Janu, but she had already moved the Kalpetta
district court seeking anticipatory bail in the pending cases.
A bond for Rs 20, 000 with two solvent sureties each for a like sum were executed
before the Mananthavady court and Janu's passport was also surrendered before the
court as per the High Court's directive.
