L K Advani takes a dig at Savarkar's critics
Saturday, April 12 2003 16:31 Hrs (IST)

Pangri (Maharashtra): Strongly justifying Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government's move to install Swatantryaveer V D Savarkar's portrait in Parliament, Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani said on April 12 that those opposing the decision clearly displayed "abnormality in their thinking".

"Savarkar ki alochana karne wale keval apne chintan ki vikruti ka parichay de rahe the," said Advani, while addressing a public rally after inaugurating the project of producing ethanol from sugar-cane juice of Vaijnath co-operative sugar factory, run by BJP national vice-president Gopinath Munde.

It is nothing but 'perverse' to criticise Savarkar, who had spent over 20 years in the cellular jail at Andaman, the Deputy Prime Minister said.

"It was a burden on us that we could not install the portrait of Savarkar for all these years," Advani said adding, "but it is good that we could accomplish it during our tenure only".
