Islamabad: Pakistan has described as a "lie with no legs to stand on" the
allegations by Defence Minister George Fernandes that it continued to sponsor
terrorist acts in India despite joining the global war against terrorism.
"Instead of fretting over Pakistan, the Indian leaders should shed their hegemonic
mindset and focus on settling disputes with Pakistan peacefully through
negotiations," the Pakistan Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Fernandes'
comments questioning Pakistan's claims of taking part in a global war against
terrorism made in Kolkata on April 12.
The statement, describing Fernandes as a Minister of 'Tehelka' fame, said the Indian
Defence Minister has lost all credibility in the past by making irresponsible
allegations against India's neighbours.
The statement claimed Pakistan had caught several Indian agents in the past for
carrying out terrorist activities in Pakistan. The statement further claimed that
Indian support to terrorist movements in the region is also well "documented".
It said the world community has lauded Pakistan's "central" role in the
international war against terrorism, which continues to irk "malicious leaders" like
Fernandes.
