Jammu: Three top Pakistani militants belonging to the Harkat-ul-Jehadi-Islami outfit
were among five ultras gunned down by security forces in separate encounters in
Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, official sources said on April 15.
In a gunbattle between troops and militants during a search-and-cordon operation in
Hari Bhudda forest belt in Poonch late April 14 night, the three Pakistani militants
were killed, the sources said, adding three AK rifles and five UBGL grenades were
among arms and ammunition seized from the spot.
In another encounter near a forward defence location in Sabzian, a militant was shot
dead and an AK rifle, two pistols, three magazines and an equal number of grenades
were recovered from his possession.
The security forces also recovered the body of a militant from Mendhar area of
Poonch along with some arms and ammunition on April 14 night, the sources
said.
