Mulund blast accused charged under POTA

Mumbai: Atif Nasir Mulla, who was arrested on April 15 in connection with March 13 blast in a local train at Mulund has been booked under Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA).

Mulla was produced before the special holiday court on April 15 which also remanded him to police custody till April 28.

Mulla is the second accused arrested in the case after Saquib Nachan, who was arrested on April 10 and booked under POTA.

According to police sources, Mulla is suspected to be involved in every stage of the terrorist operation, from its inception to final execution.

Mulla, an MBA graduate and a resident of Padgha village in Bhiwandi taluka in the neighbouring Thane district, was arrested near Bandra-Kurla complex by the crime branch sleuths.

The other POTA detainee is facing charges of conspiracy to engineer the blast in the train at Mulund railway station on March 13 in which 11 persons were killed.

According to the crime branch officials, five more persons could be arrested in connection with the blast.
