New Delhi: Congress on April 16 condemned UP Chief Minister Mayawati for resorting
to "politics of reckless revenge" by slapping a plethora of cases against Samajwadi
Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and warned that the Bharatiya Janata Party
(BJP) would not be able to shake off the responsibility for her actions.
"It is an extreme exercise of abuse of power, arrogance of office by Mayawati who is
deriving her power from patronage of BJP, which will also be responsible directly
for every executive excesses she indulges," party spokesman S Jaipal Reddy told
reporters.
He was also critical of Mayawati for ordering investigations into the alleged misuse
of power by former UP Governor and Congress leader Motilal Vora. "This shows that
she has no regard for either political decency or Constitutional provisions," he
said.
