Arun Gawli gangster killed in Mumbai encounter

Mumbai: A gangster owing allegiance to the underworld don Arun Gawli, was killed in a police encounter in the early hours of April 16 at suburban Kanjurmarg in North East Mumbai, police said.

Acting on a tip off that the gangster Arjun alias Rajan Manohar Navage (30) will be coming to extort money from a businessman in Kanjurmarg East, police laid a trap opposite the salt pan office.

Navage, when asked to surrender at around 1.55 am by the police, he fired at the police who retaliated injuring Navage.

He was taken to Veer Sarvarkar hospital in Mulund where he was declared dead before admission, police said.

Navage was wanted in nine serious offences, police said adding, a .32 bore revolver with two live cartridges was also recovered from him.
