Curfew relaxed for 6 hours in Jharkhand town

Daltonganj: The indefinite curfew was relaxed for six hours between 06:00 hours and 12:00 hours (IST) on April 17 in Panki block area in Palamu district following improvement in situation.

No untoward incidents have been reported from anywhere in Panki since April 16, Palamu superintendent of police Anil Palta said.

An indefinite curfew was imposed in Panki block area on April 17 as communal violence erupted after anti-socials burnt a temple and flag. One person was killed and 12 others injured in the clash between people belonging to two communities.

Palamu district authorities had on April 17 issued shoot-at-sight orders against troublemakers trying to disturb communal harmony. 52 people were arrested for trying to disturb communal harmony.
