2 dreaded LeT militants nabbed in Maharashtra
Thursday, April 17 2003 15:01 Hrs (IST)

Mumbai: Two dreaded Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants entrusted to target prominent personalities in Maharashtra and carrying out subversive activities were nabbed by police in Thane district.

Thane police commissioner SM Shangari on April 17 said the LeT members were assigned the job to target VVIPs and carry out anti-national activities in the state.

The militants have been identified as Farukh Abdul Surve and Yasin Liyakat Kapadia. Surve, who was arrested on April 6 in connection with the bogus university certificates racket, was nabbed from Al Ashraf apartment at Mumbra. The thorough investigations revealed his links with the LeT, and based on his disclosure, Kapadia was arrested on April 14.

Police has recovered from them a map of LeT's training camp, two computers, revolvers and cartridges, diaries, bogus driving licenses and certain "incriminating" articles.
