Jammu: Army troops on April 18 gunned down a Pakistani militant of al-Badr in a
fierce gunbattle in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said.
On specific information about presence of a group of Pakistani militants in Bafliaz
forest, troops launched a seek-and-destroy operation late April 17 night, they
said.
After night-long searches in the area, the troops detected the ultras and in the
ensuing encounter, al-Badr area commander Abu Arif was killed on April 18 morning,
the sources said.
An AK rifle, three magazines, seven grenades and an improvised explosive device
(IED) were recovered from the spot, they added.
