Hubli: Karnataka would achieve the goal of nabbing forest bandit Veerappan dead or alive, Home Minister M Mallikarjun Kharge said on April 18.

The joint Special Task Forces (STFs) of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu with Kerala's assistance have been hunting the outlaw and his gang, he told reporters in Bangalore.

Kharge ruled out referring the killing of JD-U (Janata Dal-United) leader H Nagappa in the captivity of Veerappan to CBI for probe.

Replying to a question, he said the Centre has so far provided three lakh tonnes of food grains to Karnataka for drought relief works and has not paid much attention to the state's request for 11 lakh tonnes.
