Jammu: Six top militants belonging to the pro-Pakistan Hizbul Mujahideen surrendered in Doda district of Jammu early April 19, Defence sources said.

"We have been motivating militants to surrender before the Army through their relatives for two months and a group of them had decided to surrender during the Prime Minister's visit today," the sources said.

Six militants of Hizbul Mujahideen led by tehsil commander Liaqat Ali Bhat laid down arms before a Brigadier in a local Army camp at Gandoh area of Doda, they said.

"We are expecting more surrenders of local militants in the hills of Doda, which has been an operational hub of militancy during the last 13 years," the sources said.
