Islamabad: Claiming that Pakistan followed a "matured" policy towards India, which
resulted in "softening up" of New Delhi's stand on talks with Islamabad, Pakistan's
Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri has said that all issues, including
Kashmir, could be resolved through "composite dialogue" between the two countries.
"The mature policy has led to a softening up of the Indian position on a composite
dialogue on all outstanding issues offered by Pakistan on a number of occasions,"
Kasuri, who is on an official visit to Saudi Arabia, told a meeting of expatriate
Pakistanis in Riyadh.
He said Pakistan always offered India to hold dialogue on any time, anywhere basis.
His comments followed an offer of talks by Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee
during his visit to Srinagar. India's offer was welcomed by Pakistan Prime Minister
Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and Kasuri earlier.
According to excerpts of Kasuri's comments circulated by Pakistan Foreign Office
late on April 19 night, he claimed that his government had adopted an effective
foreign policy, which elevated Pakistan's position in its relations with the world
community and its principled stand on various international issues, including,
Kashmir.
On the issue of Kashmir, Kasuri said Pakistan had always extended moral, political
and diplomatic support to the people of Kashmir for getting their right of self-
determination as guaranteed by the UN resolutions.
It was felt that the issue of Kashmir could only be solved by a "composite dialogue"
between Pakistan and India, he said.
