Jammu: Seven top Pakistani militants were killed when Army troops foiled a major
infiltration bid along the line of control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and
Kashmir on April 20, defence sources said.
A heavily armed group of militants sneaked into Mendhar area of Poonch district from
Pakistani occupied Kashmir on April 20 morning, the sources said.
The sources said that soon after troops observed movement of militants near a
forward defence location (FDL) along LoC in Mendhar, the entire area was cordoned
off.
The troops asked the ultras to surrender but they opened fire, resulting in a fierce
gun battle, which was still on.
Seven AK-47 rifles, 19 magazines, 21 grenades and large quantity of arms and
ammunition were recovered from the slain militants, they added.
