Chennai: A metropolitan magistrate's court on April 21 remanded Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) youth wing leader and former city mayor M K Stalin to judicial custody till May 5, who has been charged with attempt to murder for allegedly inciting party cadres to attack police personnel during his arrest on the night of April 9.

Stalin was arrested for trespassing into the all-women's Queen Mary's College, allegedly intimidating the college watchman and inciting agitating college students protesting against the Tamil Nadu government's decision to relocate the college and construct a new state Secretariat in its place.

Besides Stalin, five DMK Legislators who were also arrested for trespass into the college alongwith him, were granted bail on March 17 by 13th metropolitan magistrate Venkata Varadhan.

Meanwhile, a sessions court is expected to give its ruling on bail applications filed by Stalin and the five MLAs later on April 21 in the attempted murder case.
