Srinagar: The three Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants killed by security forces in an
encounter in South Kashmir on April 18 were involved in the recent massacre of
Kashmiri Pandits at Nadimarg, police said on April 21.
The documents seized from the deceased militants and the disclosures by District
commander of LeT Zia Mustafa alias Abdullah Omar Arbaz, revealed that the slain
Pakistani militants - Abu Rafie, Abu Bilal and Abu Waseem Shaheen - were involved in
the killing of 24 Kashmiri Pandits at Nadimarg on March 23/24.
The militants were led by the troops of 52nd battalion of Border Security Force
(BSF) and local police at a village area of Anantnag district, a day prior to the
scheduled visit of Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee to nearby Qazigund on April
19.
A large quantity of arms and ammunition and a number of documents containing
explicit and systematic details of various arms and ammunition and property looted
by them during and after the attack on the minority community, were seized from the
slain ultras.
From the investigations conducted so far by three senior men, police has got
substantial evidence to link the slain militants with the Nadimarg incident. Efforts
were afoot by the special teams investigating the incident to work out other
details, collect further evidence and connect the remaining militants with the crime.
