BJP will not withdraw support to Mayawati govt
Wednesday, April 23 2003 14:51 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on April 23 ruled out withdrawing support to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati despite criticism by her of BJP leaders, especially former Chief Minister Rajnath Singh.

At a three-hour meeting BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu had with party general secretaries on April 23 morning, it was felt the party should continue to extend support to the Mayawati government, party sources said.

There was no question of withdrawal of support to the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government in Uttar Pradesh, the sources said.

A meeting between Mayawati and BJP central leaders is likely to be held soon, the sources said.
